February 28, 2023: Premier of Tasmania Jeremy Rockliff uses his State of the State address to State Parliament to announce his commitment and tasked his government to find a pathway to make this project happen.
A State election was called in early 2024.
April 2024: We await a strong response from the new State Government.

November 2022: Passing 62 out of 76 planning scheme criteria, TASCAT upheld 14 grounds of refusal over just 6 criteria, which have been described by the best environmental planning lawyers in the Asia Pacific as “contradictory, ambiguous & fundamentally flawed” to implement. The planning scheme failed to measure significant improvements and positive impacts offered by our proposal. All 13 sitting days can be viewed here.
AUTHORITY GRANTED
March 2019: MWCC has successfully received two Authorities to Enter from the Tasmanian State Government, to allow investigative works both inside and outside Wellington Park.
This will allow our project design team to complete and lodge the Development Application, a milestone which then starts the statutory approval process.

Over 1100 tonnes of carbon monoxide are emitted each and every year just to haul 430,000 people up a dead-end road to the summit and back. Rather than relying on burning imported foreign fuel, our proposal can move up to 3.3 million people a year safely and quietly, using Tasmania's clean, green energy.

Ongoing conservation and Park Management isn't cheap. Since 1904, Tasmanians have paid for the mountain's upkeep whilst tourists have enjoyed visiting for free. Our proposal allows willing tourists to pay for a spectacular, memorable experience, enabling taxes to be better spent on essential services.
